Public Nudity

I laughed at today's Borgman offering, and it is funny.

But it's also sad that a climate exists in which this cartoon could be thought up.

What kind of culture produces the atmosphere in which it's deemed abnormal to provide one's child with natural sustenance while out in public?

I know... This really has only become a big issue again fairly recently (late 90's) when there was a drastic shift towards a much more conservative position regarding policy.

They've actually already pushed laws through on the local level concerning what/where one can or cannot do this obviously very controversial thing. lol.

People are just stupid/crazy.

Hey Kev,

It was good seeing you last week.

I just want to say right now that I hate MySpace for many, many reasons, but the most current reason right now is that there is no RSS feed for your blog (though of course there are ways to subscribe if I was willing to concede to MySpace Inbreeding).

Grrr...

John,

You rock... I wasn't even aware of this publishing option, and was wondering how all of these guys who reviews blogs for a living are actually in business. I think I'm actually going to subscribe to this and abandone MySpace forever... But it has been an easy way for me to extend my partying circle and meet lots and lots of women, so I'm not sure how soon that will be.

For future Blog Postings at least, I'll make the switch ;P Talk to you soon.

So the post is from over two months ago, but I won't let that deter me. Anyway, I agree that it's OK to breastfeed in public, but respect for others ought to limit the breastfeeding mother's behavior in certain ways.

She shouldn't , for instance, bring her infant into a theatrical showing of an R-rated film (say, "Me and You and Everyone We Know") and, when he wakes up, breastfeed him as the film goes on. It's not always a completely silent affair and can interfere with others' enjoyment of the movie.

As I say, breastfeeding in public's OK. But not necessarily everywhere that might be considered public.
